“Your life, our movie” is an interactive installation that uses flickr.com data base to make a collective and interactive movie in real time.
In YLOM peoples has to type keywords that trigger an on-line script that search flickr.com database. The search returns 3 images tagged with each keyword that are used to make short animated clips. The keywords are also printed on the screen as a metaphor of the script and subtitles of the movie inviting people to make semantic and poetic connections between the moving images in the different screens.
YLOM conjugates two ways of thinking; the first ones allude to the human logic. When people types keywords they do it relating to his memories and interests. The second one talk about a machinical behavior. After some seconds without any new keyword typed by humans, the on-line system starts its own edition of flickr.com data-base using and artificial life algorithm to choose new images.
The humanity always created immaterial dimensions to give meaning and to understand the world, like the myths, the religions and Gods, all considered real, but immaterial in its essence. Revisiting McLuhan concept about Medias as an extension of human, and believing that Noosfera is an immaterial dimension that also conform us, YLOM materialize a collective unconsciousness in audiovisual poetry using the dynamic of the networks: real time, connectivity, collaboration, rhizome, etc, blurring the boundaries between the individual and the collective in our cybrid world.
